Yesterday the Spotswood High School baseball team defeated South Jersey Group 2 Champion Sterling 13-2. Leaving them one victory shy of capturing the team’s first ever Group 2 championship. This is special to us here at the blog since we all attended Spotswood High School and graduated in 05′ and we know the kids on the team. I can’ t speak for fellow bloggers but I am really enjoying and am very proud of the success the team is having. They are anchored by the arm of 4 year varsity pitcher Willie Beard who will be attending Rutgers in the fall. Mike Hohman wraps up the best 1-2 starting pitching combo in the county and he will be going on to join the National Champions at Kean. Lately they have done nothing but win. In a busy 24-hour period the Spotswood team won the Central Jersey Group 2 championship as well as the school’s first ever GMC crown. This is a very special team. In this week’s Star Ledger Top 20 Spotswood was ranked as the 15th best team in the entire state. For a school as small as Spotswood, that is one hell of an accomplishment. I am very proud of how the team has done and I wish them nothing but luck on Saturday.
