Some anonymous reader was nice enough to send me an advanced copy of the first Bruce Springsteen single off the new album Magic (more info here), titled “Radio Nowhere”, and I couldn’t find lyrics anywhere on the web, so I decided to write them down as best I could (with some help from Glenn) and share them with you all here. All lyrics are tentative, and if you know something we don’t, leave a comment and tell us. Some possible chords are located at the bottom of the post.

RADIO NOWHERE

I was trying to find my way home

But all I heard was a drone

Bouncing off a satellite

Crushing the last lone American night

(Chorus:)

This is Radio Nowhere

Is there anybody alive out there

This is Radio Nowhere

Is there anybody alive out there

I was sitting around a dead dial

Just another lost number in a file

Dancing down a dark hole (some say it’s “Been in some kind of dark cove”)

Just a-searching for a world with some soul

(Chorus)

I just wanna hear some rhythm

I just wanna hear some rhythm

I just wanna hear some rhythm

I just wanna hear some rhythm

I want a thousand guitars

I want pounding drums

I want a million different voices

Speaking in tongues

(Chorus)

I was driving through the misty rain

Just a-searching for a mystery train

Bopping through the wild blue

Trying to make a connection with you

(Chorus)

I just wanna hear some rhythm

I just wanna hear some rhythm

I just wanna hear your rhythm

I just wanna hear your rhythm

(repeat until end)

So what do you all think? Are the lyrics corny, brilliant, or both? If you haven’t heard the song yet, just scour the Net, I’m sure there’s a copy floating around somewhere. Personally, I’m a bit confused by them (especially the mystery train line), but the song rocks hard and should be a winner when the album debuts October 2.

EDIT: Commenter n.e.c. forever just asked if anyone had chords, and over here at 41MTF we really do take all your comments to heart. So I sat down with my keyboard and figured out the following. Now THIS is even more likely to have mistakes than the lyrics, so if anyone else has ideas, please feel free to let us know.

Intro/Verses/Main Riff:

F#m – F#m sus 5 – A – E (note: could substitute D for F#m5?)

Chorus:

F#m – F#m sus 5 – A – E (x2)

A – D – F#m – E (x2 or x3, depending if he repeats the last line)

[The third time he plays the chorus, just play the main one 5 times]

Solo:

Bm – G – E – A (x4, omit the final A in the last one and lead back into the verse)

Chord-wise, it seems like a fairly simple song. Hopefully you can now pick up the old git-box and rock this song hard, like it deserves to be.  Enjoy!
